Travelling is part of our everyday life. The way and/ or purposes of travel may range from commuting to our daily workplace to visiting other countries as tourists or for business.
Travel is defined as the transport of people on a trip/journey or the process or time involved in a person or object moving from one location to another (Wikipedia, 2008).
People may choose to travel for a number of reasons such as recreation, tourism, visiting friends, viewing scenes and discovering new places.

Travelling abroad is being highly promoted through low-budget airlines, and discounted holiday packages. This has a direct impact on tourism levels, and therefore attracts great interest from countries, such as Greece, whose economy is largely dependent on travellers and ultimately tourism.
Greece has been an attraction for international visitors since antiquity for its rich and long history, Mediterranean coastline and beaches. It attracts over 16 million tourists a year contributing 15% of the Gross Domestic Product of the nation's economy.
As one of the industries
which generates the most employment, Travel & Tourism needs the complete understanding and support of governments and international organizations in order to realize its full potential (World Travel & Tourism Council, 2008).
The freedom to travel can be viewed as a major political freedom, comparable to the right of freedom of expression. It is essential to human contact for business or leisure, and it widens the horizons of individuals both literally and figuratively (World Travel & Tourism Council, 2008).
